This year marks the tenth anniversary of Scotland achieving Fair Trade Nation status.

As part of the celebration of this important milestone, Martin Whitfield MSP has joined parliamentary colleagues and Fair Trade campaigners in re-committing his support for Fair Trade here in Scotland and globally.

The Fair Trade pledge is a way for MSPs to show their support for all actions which improve the livelihood of farmers and workers who produce many of the products which we consume everyday. This also involves supporting a fair economy and committing to tackle the climate emergency.

Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“Ten years as a Fair Trade Nation is a great achievement. However, the need to support a world in which trade is based on fairness so producers can earn secure and sustainable livelihoods has never been so important.
“That’s why I’m delighted to underline my support for Fair Trade by re-iterating my pledge to commit to a fair trade future for our people and our planet. We can, and must, do more to boost fair trade and Scotland should continue to play its part in this.”
