Martin Whitfield MSP is proudly backing this year’s Scotland Loves Local Week (26 August – 1 September) which aims to put localism at the heart of a stronger, greener, fairer Scotland.
Following the success of last year’s inaugural week, this will be a national campaign with a local focus – shining a spotlight on why choosing local is so integral to building better, stronger, more sustainable places and communities for the future.
This year the campaign will seek to concentrate minds on the significant impact that choosing local has. Throughout the week the organisers will be working with a number of civic and community leaders to re-brand local markets to ‘Scotland Loves Local Markets’ and delivering events in places throughout Scotland.
Speaking about the week, Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“I’m proud to be supporting Scotland Loves Local Week again this year. I’ll be championing the Scotland Loves Local message and celebrating the businesses, organisations and individuals across South Scotland who are striving every day to make our towns fit for the future.”
