Martin Whitfield MSP has nominated Lee Rollo Stewart as a Local Hero to help mark the 25th anniversary of the Scottish Parliament.
Earlier this year all 129 MSPs were invited to nominate a constituent who makes a positive difference to the lives of others – often with little recognition – as their Local Hero.
On Saturday 28 September, the Local Heroes will make a contribution to a special commemorative event to mark the 25th anniversary of The Scottish Parliament, taking place in the Debating Chamber.
Gifford resident Lee is funeral director at Tranent Co-operative Funeralcare, but also undertakes a range of local community and charitable activity.
This includes organising Easter bunny visits to local care homes, day centres and children with additional needs and distributing Christmas hampers for others who volunteer their time to help people in their local community.
Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“As the Scottish Parliament prepares to mark its 25th anniversary, it’s right that the people of Scotland are placed at the heart of our events. Together with my fellow MSPs, we want to celebrate the achievements of our Local Heroes from across every constituency and region in Scotland.
“I put out a call for local people to nominate a Local Hero who they believe has consistently demonstrated their commitment to making a difference in their community. Lee’s dedication to helping others is truly inspirational and she was the outstanding nominee. I look forward to her joining us at the commemorative event later this year.”
Local Heroes have taken part in the opening ceremonies of the Scottish Parliament in 2007, 2011, 2016 and 2021.
