This October, Resuscitation Council UK is promoting lifesaving resources to the public via its #RestartAHeart month campaign.
Restart a Heart (RSAH) is an annual initiative led by the Resuscitation Council UK which aims to increase the number of people surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrests by helping more people learn CPR.
This year the charity is encouraging everyone to become ready for the ultimate medical emergency by learning the steps to CPR and how to use a defib. It is also continuing to highlight inequalities in resuscitation.
Martin Whitfield is joining colleagues in helping to promote #RestartaHeart and encourage local businesses and other organisations to sign up to the campaign and become ResusReady.
Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“I’m pleased to join the Resuscitation Council UK in highlighting that every second counts when someone has a cardiac arrest. There are more than 100,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests every year in the UK, but fewer than one in 10 people survive.
“That’s why the Resuscitation Council UK is asking communities to become ResusReady with their help and support. It only takes a few simple steps to become ResusReady and as a business or organisation, you can let people in your area know you are ResusReady by registering and showing on the map.
“Sign up for free CPR training today and help boost survival rates!”
