Martin Whitfield MSP and Douglas Alexander MP have visited the historic Belhaven Brewery to meet with management and tour the site to see some of the investment that has been made over recent years.
Mr Whitfield has visited the brewery previously, and also helped celebrate its 300th anniversary in 2019 by tabling an Early Day Motion in parliament at the time.
It was Mr Alexander’s first visit to Belhaven, Scotland’s oldest working brewery, since his election as the county’s MP in July.
Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“Belhaven Brewery is an iconic local business, brand and visitor attraction and I was pleased to visit it again. The investment that has been made in new technology and other modernisation was clear since my last visit and underlines the importance of the Belhaven brand.
“I’m grateful to Nick and his team for taking the time out to update us on the brewery’s latest developments and I look forward to hearing more about Belhaven’s progress in the future.”
Douglas Alexander MP said:
“It was great to visit Belhaven Brewery to find out more about its long and proud history as Scotland’s oldest working brewery, as well as the brewing process for its popular ales, stouts, and lagers.
“Belhaven is clearly an important part of Greene King’s plans, especially for its pubs across Scotland, and it was good to see for ourselves the investment they are making to modernise and improve the site.”
