Martin Whitfield MSP and Douglas Alexander MP have attended the first of two consultative workshops being run by the 360 Centre Steering Group at Port Seton Centre.
The interactive public workshops are designed to allow members of the public to view the 360 Centre proposals for creating Climate Change centre for the arts, science, the natural environment, tourism and education, on the site of the former Cockenzie Power Station.
Mr Whitfield and Mr Alexander met with some of the group’s volunteers, discussed some of their ideas and explored the interactive models of the proposed 360 Centre.
Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“I welcomed the opportunity to drop in to the group’s workshop, chat to some of the volunteers and hear more about their latest plans, as well as listen to some of the feedback they collected.
“They’ve rightly recognised that gathering the views and ideas of local people is vital to developing the concept. I look forward to hearing more following the workshops and their wider consultation with local communities.”
Douglas Alexander MP said:
“I was pleased to attend the 360 Centre team’s consultative workshop, meet some of those involved in the project and understand a bit more about the concept behind the proposal.”
“The group has clearly spent a lot of time and effort on working up their plans and must now build community support for their vision. The workshops are a positive way of engaging with the public and I’ll be interested to see the results of their consultative work in due course.”
