Responding to the news that Network Rail has delayed the implementation of the new timetable for services on the East Coast Main Line until at least May 2023, Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“I welcome the news that the proposed changes to the East Coast timetable have been delayed. It was clear from the public reaction, here in Scotland and further south, that the proposals were not fit for purpose and would have a detrimental effect on rail services and towns on the line, including Dunbar.
“I congratulate RAGES and other campaigners for opposing the changes and hope that this delay will result in the plans being revised to produce a timetable that will help deliver the rail services communities in East Lothian and the Borders need.”
