Every year, Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight celebrates everything that makes food and drink such a special sector throughout Scotland.

As restrictions on travel and businesses start to ease, this year’s Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight will seek to showcase the entire industry in all its glory.

This year it gets underway tomorrow (Saturday 4th September) and Martin Whitfield MSP is committed to helping highlight local food and drink excellence over the next two weeks.

Throughout the fortnight Scottish Food and Drink will be taking a ‘virtual tour’ of our food and drink producers, while also looking forward to the opportunities ahead.

Speaking about his support for the annual campaign, Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“East Lothian is ‘Scotland’s Food and Drink County’ and has a first class reputation when it comes to food and drink. Throughout the turbulent last year and a half, when Covid and Brexit have brought so many new challenges, local businesses have continued to innovate and adapt to maintain and enhance their outstanding products.

“I was proud to host the first ‘Taste of East Lothian’ event at Westminster during my time as the county’s MP and help showcase what our county has to offer. I am just as eager to keep supporting and promoting our food and drink sector now, in East Lothian and across South Scotland.

“Food and Drink Fortnight is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and promote local excellence. I’m encouraging people throughout South of Scotland to get involved in the campaign by engaging with and supporting their favourite local food and drink producers.”
