NHS Lothian has been in touch to acknowledge an issue with the scheduling of some flu vaccination appointments via the national booking system, which has resulted in some people’s appointments not being as local as anticipated.
NHS National Services Scotland, who run the booking system, have now resolved the problem and additional booking slots are being created in East Lothian this week for those affected.
Commenting on the update, Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“A number of constituents in East Lothian have contacted me over recent days regarding their concerns about this issue. I hope that this update from NHS Lothian will help them and others in the same situation.
“Please pass this information on to anyone affected who would benefit from being able to switch their appointment closer to home.”
Any East Lothian residents who have received a letter with an appointment at Royal Highland Showground can rearrange their appointment for a local venue by going online at www.nhsinform.scot/flu-vaccine/invitations-and-appointments/rearrange-your-flu-vaccine-appointment
Alternatively they can call the Lothian helpline on 0300 790 6296 for assistance with rebooking.
Please do not phone your GP practice as they are not involved in the vaccination programme and will not be able to help you.
Appointments are available at East Lothian Community Hospital in Haddington and Musselburgh Primary Care Centre.
