Martin Whitfield MSP has paid tribute to the staff at Haddington’s award-winning Pear Tree nurseries, following a whistle-stop tour of the three sites.
Back in October Mr Whitfield lodged a motion at Holyrood congratulating Pear Tree Nursery West Road and Pear Tree Nursery Meadowpark on being ranked among the best in Scotland by daynurseries.co.uk in the annual Nursery Awards 2021.
After tabling the motion, the South Scotland MSP arranged to visit all three of the Pear Tree nursery sites to meet and congratulate staff on their outstanding success at the awards.
Speaking after his tour, Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“I’m grateful to Nicola and her staff for taking the time to give me a tour of their three nursery sites and for making me so welcome. I was pleased to have the opportunity to find out more about the nurseries and chat to staff about their work and the success they’ve enjoyed.
“It was immediately clear how much thought, care and love goes into making sure that all three sites provide the best possible environments for the children in their care and how much they enjoy being there.
“Nursery and childcare staff have been among the unsung frontline key workers during Covid and shown great dedication from the outset. They deserve our praise and gratitude for the way they have kept going throughout the pandemic.”
Nicola Pryde, Director, Pear Tree Nurseries Ltd, said:
“We are delighted that our parents voted for us to win this award and are grateful to Martin for taking the time to highlight our achievement in parliament. It is always great to see the hard work of our management and staff being recognised.”
