Anas Sarwar MSP was welcomed to Tranent Juniors F.C.’s Forester’s Park today by Martin Whitfield MSP and Councillor Fiona Dugdale.
Mr Sarwar came to Tranent to watch the Juniors play Celtic B in the Scottish Lowland Football League after committing to do so on an earlier visit. Mr Sarwar met with club officials, players and fans, and posed for pictures with a Tranent Juniors scarf as well as various other club merchandise.
A post on the Tranent Juniors F.C. Supporters page on Saturday said: “We had a visit to Foresters Park today from Anas Sarwar. He spent a lot of time chatting to supporters, young and old and watched the game.”
Mr Sarwar was treated to an entertaining game with Tranent losing 1-0 to the visitors thanks to a first half goal.
Speaking after the visit, Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“Anas is a frequent visitor to East Lothian and it’s always a pleasure welcoming him to the area. He had a great time watching today’s game and really enjoyed chatting to fans, young and old, who were pleased to see him at the match.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t quite manage to get the right result this time, but I look forward to welcoming him back to Tranent and other parts of East Lothian in the very near future.”
