Martin Whitfield MSP is supporting the efforts of charities and constituents to help break the silence and raise awareness this Baby Loss Awareness Week (9-15 October).

One in four pregnancies ends in miscarriage and 5,000 wanted pregnancies are terminated for medical reasons every year. 13 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day.

Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“Ahead of this year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week, some of my constituents shared with me their own stories of losing a baby. I’m helping to support the week and local parents by remembering the babies, like Eleanor, that passed away in my constituency.

“We must do more to prevent baby loss and support bereaved parents through the most challenging of times. Find out more about the support available for anyone experiencing baby loss at www.babyloss-awareness.org.”
