14 to 20 November is Living Wage Week, the annual UK-wide celebration of the Living Wage movement, which this year has the theme ‘the real living wage is more important than ever’.

With prices rising at their highest rate in decades, the week’s central message this year is that the real Living Wage is more important than ever. That is why this Living Wage Week campaigners are taking the opportunity to celebrate the network of nearly 3,000 employers across Scotland who have already become accredited Living Wage employers.

Martin Whitfield MSP is a Living Wage employer and is supporting the week and encouraging employers in the South Scotland Region who are not yet signed up to the Living Wage to consider it now.

Commenting on his support for the week, Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“I’m proud to be a Living Wage employer. I know many businesses are going through a really tough time at the moment, but paying the real Living Wage remains one of the best ways of valuing staff as well as having benefits for employers and the economy too.

“This Living Wage Week I’m thanking the hundreds of local employers who already pay the real Living Wage and encouraging those who do not to find out more about it and the benefits it can bring for them and their staff.”
