Martin Whitfield MSP has visited the John Bellany Day Centre in Port Seton to meet trustees and staff and catch up with the important community facility’s recent developments.

Mr Whitfield, who was joined by local councillor Brooke Ritchie, met Chair, David Ferrier, and Manager, Keith McCombs, as well as some of the centre’s service users and staff and had a tour of the facility.

Speaking after the visit, Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“I welcomed this opportunity to visit the brilliant John Bellany Daycentre in Port Seton today. The team there do outstanding work supporting older people both at the centre and through their outreach activity. As well as catching up on latest developments and future plans with the centre’s chair, David, and manager, Keith, we also had a tour of their first rate facilities and met some of its regular service users.

“Like all community facilities, they have faced significant challenges over the last few years, including a loss of fee income during periods of enforced closure due to COVID. However, the day centre is very well run and has a committed team of trustees, staff and volunteers who are positive about the future.
