Martin Whitfield MSP joined colleagues and trade unionists from across Scotland at yesterday’s STUC ‘Scotland Demands Better’ Budget Rally outside the Scottish Parliament.

The South Scotland MSP chatted with trade unionists and joined colleagues in standing with them in their call for fair funding for Scotland’s public services and fair pay for workers.

Speaking after the rally, Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“I was proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with trade unionists from across Scotland at the STUC’s Scotland Demands Better Budget Rally. Councils have borne the brunt of cuts in recent years, with East Lothian seeing £40m slashed from its funding.

“Trade unionists and anti-cuts campaigners are now demanding an end to Scottish government cuts to public services and fair pay for workers. The government must hear that call and next week’s Scottish Budget answer it and deliver a fair funding settlement.”
