Commenting on Historic Environment Scotland’s announcement that inspections of Tantallon and Dirleton castles, which have been closed to the public since January last year, will start today (23rd January), Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“These very significant historic local attractions, which bring thousands of visitors to East Lothian, have now been closed for a year, so I welcome the news that inspections at both sites are now underway.
“I would like to see the results of the inspections assessed quickly and for HES to then undertake any repairs or other restoration work as rapidly as possible to ensure the castles can fully reopen to the public at the earliest opportunity.”
