To help mark this year’s Scottish Apprenticeship Week (6-10 March), Martin Whitfield MSP has met with apprentices from Enjoyleisure to learn more about their experiences and the opportunities that their apprenticeships have opened up for them.

Joining the four apprentices, Leon, Clare, Luke and Kayden, in the discussion, were Bill Axon, Enjoy’s Chief Executive, Colin Sturrock, HR Manager, Lara McLaren, Service Manager at Meadowmill, Debra Tracy, from Direct Partners the company that Enjoy works with to take on new apprentices, and Douglas Alexander.

The apprentices shared some of their experiences during their time working with Enjoy and what they have gained from their apprenticeships so far, and then answered some questions from Martin and Douglas.

Speaking afterwards, Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“I’m grateful to Leon, Clare, Luke and Kayden for taking time out to chat about their experience of being apprentices at Enjoy. It was clear they all share a love of sport and their apprenticeships are giving them the opportunity to harness that interest and earn a living from it.

“Having the chance to take a first step in your chosen line of work is one of the many potential benefits of apprenticeships and I’m delighted that Enjoy is offering local youngsters these opportunities to build a career in the leisure sector.”
