Historic Environment Scotland’s project-based funding scheme, Historic Environment Grants, is now open to communities.

There are three funding streams available (express, small and large grants) for grants from £1,000 to £500,000.  The streams are now open for expressions of interest which will be accepted year-round.

Additionally, HES is now able to offer express grants and fund interim works for vulnerable heritage assets, a first for the sector.

Historic Environment Grants will be open largely to not-for-profit organisations. They are for projects focused on tangible or intangible aspects of Scotland’s historic environment, from historic buildings, ancient monuments and archaeology, to stories and traditions.

Funding will also help further support Scotland’s diverse historic building stock, as well as supporting skills and the retrofit agenda.
