£2 million is available to communities across Scotland through Historic Environment Scotland’s project-based funding scheme Historic Environment Grants, which is now open for expressions of interest.

There are three funding streams available (express, small and large grants) for grants from £1,000 to £500,000 and expressions of interest will be accepted year-round. As part of the programme, HES is now able to offer express grants and fund interim works for vulnerable heritage assets, which is a first for the sector.

Historic Environment Grants will be open largely to not-for-profit organisations with projects focused on tangible or intangible aspects of Scotland’s historic environment, from historic buildings, ancient monuments and archaeology to stories and traditions.

Funding will also help further support Scotland’s diverse historic building stock, as well as supporting skills and the retrofit agenda.
