Martin Whitfield MSP has attended a Cats Protection exhibition stand at the Scottish Parliament and pledged to support and speak up for cat welfare in parliament.

The charity’s representatives were at Holyrood to promote their work on changes to allow responsible
renters to keep pets.  The lack of pet-friendly rented accommodation in Scotland is a key issue the charity is highlighting.

Other issues discussed included the importance of being a responsible pet owner by microchipping and neutering a cat, and understanding cat behaviours to stop them from damaging a property.

Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“I welcomed the opportunity to chat to representatives from Cats Protection about their work on cat welfare. They had some important updates for MSPs, including issues around tenants being able to keep cats.

“As a cat owner myself, I was also pleased to pledge to speak up for cat welfare in parliament.”
