Martin Whitfield MSP has joined parliamentary colleagues in helping to highlight awareness of this year’s World Blood Donor Day (14th June) and National Blood Week which celebrates and thanks those who donate blood, platelets and plasma.

As part of the week, representatives from the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS), which is part of NHS Scotland, came to Holyrood to inform MSPs about their work and help raise awareness of the importance of donating blood.

The SNBTS is the specialist provider of safe high-quality blood, tissues and cells products and services in Scotland.

Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“Blood donations and the services provided by the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) are so vitally important to the NHS and helping to save lives.

“The SNBTS works tirelessly to ensure that NHS Scotland has enough blood, tissues and cells available when patients need them.

“I was pleased to help welcome SNBTS representatives to Holyrood and highlight the importance of blood, platelet and plasma donation in Scotland.”
