Nominations for this year’s Scottish Health Awards are open and Martin Whitfield MSP is encouraging constituents in South Scotland to consider nominating their own healthcare hero.

These awards are the most prestigious and recognised awards run by the Daily Record in partnership with NHS Scotland and the Scottish Government. At the heart of the awards is the determination to recognise the people who symbolise everything that is great about NHS Scotland and the high quality health and social care services they deliver to the people of Scotland.

This year’s People’s Choice Award specifically recognises those amazing people who have dedicated much of their working life and have made and continue to make a significant contribution to our NHS.

The 75th Anniversary People’s Choice Award will be put to a public vote after nominations close on 13th August and when the judging panel have selected the most inspiring nominations, the public will be able to vote for their winner in this category.

Commenting on the awards, Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“There are thousands of dedicated healthcare heroes working in the NHS and other health and social care services across the South Scotland region.

“They undertake such important work across various acute and community settings, helping ensure people can access the healthcare treatment, support and advice they need, when they need it.

“The Scottish Health Awards are a well established means of thanking and celebrating health workers and teams, something which is more important than ever in this special 75th anniversary year for the NHS.

“So please take part in the awards this year and nominate your local healthcare heroes.”

The deadline for nominations is 13th August.
