Responding to the Lammermuir Festival’s statement on Creative Scotland’s decision not to grant funding to support it this year, Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“The Lammermuir Festival is one of the best organised and most critically acclaimed of Scotland’s live music events, so this decision by Creative Scotland is clearly a significant and worrying blow.

“Over the course of the last 13 years it has become established as one of the UK’s finest classical music festivals, while also making a major cultural, economic and educational contribution to East Lothian. It is completely unacceptable that this decision may now put the festival’s future at risk.

“I have written to Creative Scotland today to add my voice to those calling for it to reconsider the funding decision and work with the organisers to secure the festival’s future.”
