Martin Whitfield MSP has joined Cllr Shamin Akhtar in praising Tranent Day Care Centre following a recent visit to the facility.
The visitors met members of the centre’s staff team and chatted to some of its service users about what it means to them and their daily lives.
The centre utilises a people-centred approach, creating a comfortable, homely atmosphere for those who use its service.
The politicians were highly impressed by the quality of the day care centre’s provision and the level of satisfaction expressed with it by the service users they met.
Martin Whitfield MSP said:
“All of East Lothian’s day centres and lunch clubs undertake outstanding work providing crucial services to older people in their communities. They are important outlets for helping users avoid isolation, take part in activities and enjoy quality meals together.

“I was pleased to join Douglas and Shamin on this visit to Tranent Day Care Centre to meet the team and service users and hear more about its wonderful work.”
Cllr Shamin Akhtar said:
“East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership is committed to working with the county’s day centres to support them with providing their vital services for local older people.

“Tranent Day Care Centre is very well established and works at a good level. I’m grateful to Diane and her team for taking the time to welcome us and tell us more about their service.”
