Martin Whitfield MSP and Daniel Johnson MSP have visited Eyemouth to meet with local stakeholders and discuss economic development opportunities for the harbour and the rest of the town.

Hosted by Eyemouth Marine Ltd, the meeting brought together a range of key organisations and groups, including Eyemouth Harbour Trust and the Harbour Users Group, to brief the politicians on some of the current challenges facing the town and potential future opportunities.

Following the face to face discussions, Mr Whitfield and Mr Johnson were given a whistle stop tour of the town, including social enterprise ReTweed, the Hippodrome venue, the harbour area and EDF’s Neart na Gaoithe (NnG) offshore wind farm Operations and Maintenance (O&M) base which opened last year.

Martin Whitfield MSP said:

“Eyemouth is a wonderful town with huge potential for economic and social development and dedicated groups and individuals who are passionate about its future.

“I was delighted to join Daniel on this visit to learn more about some of the town’s recent regeneration and current challenges, as well as the exciting development opportunities at the harbour and the rest of the town.

“I’m grateful to Patrick and Eyemouth Marine Ltd for hosting us and the Eyemouth Harbour Trust and other local stakeholders for giving us their time and insight into the significant potential for developing Eyemouth.”
