Martin Whitfield MSP has tabled a motion at Holyrood congratulating Zidane Rafique and Summer Ramsay on their election as Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament.
Zidane, from North Berwick High School, and Summer, a student at Ross High School, were elected in a by-election following the resignation of two former East Lothian MSYPs, and join Katie Fairfull in representing East Lothian in the Scottish Youth Parliament.

“I was pleased to table this motion welcoming Zidane and Summer’s election to the Scottish Youth Parliament. I know that all the MSYPs do their utmost to represent the views of Scotland’s young people and advocate on their behalf, and wish Zidane and Summer every success with their new roles.”

That the Parliament congratulates Zidane Rafique, from North Berwick High School, and Summer Ramsay, from Ross High School, on their success in being elected as Members of the Scottish Youth Parliament (MSYPs) in a recent by-election, joining Katie Fairfull as the MSYPs representing East Lothian; understands that Zidane and Summer were among seven candidates who stood for election and that a total of 2,841 young people across East Lothian voted; congratulates all those who participated in the by-election contest, and wishes the winning candidates every success as they undertake their duties in the Scottish Youth Parliament.
